More Blog Traffic Is Not Necessarily Better

Getting more blog traffic is a common objective for many since this is typically taken as a sign you are a good blogger! In most cases this assumption is an accurate one however getting traffic is one thing but the best blog sites are the ones that develop reader loyalty. This loyalty generally results from how well the site administrator manages the platform in terms of content and creating a sense of community! In this case it may be easier to develop into a good blogger by focusing on a smaller group of visitors thereby allowing you better focus on them while developing your own skills!
Here are 3 reasons getting traffic is not as important as managing what you already have when initially developing both your platform and your skills.
Keeps You Centered
Do not get me wrong having a large following is great yet when first starting out this can actually be a distraction! A good blogger knows what is on the mind of the people who visit the site and responds accordingly by creating content they want to see. On the other hand trying to cater to the varying needs of a much larger audience can cause the site administrator to drift away from the theme of the blog. Now the content is not as relevant, people become confused or disenchanted and visitors do not return as a result. In addition your own education is being slowed by spending too much time researching and writing about topics not relevant to your theme!
Encouraging Comments
By focusing more on subject matter of interest to visitors you are likely to get a better reaction from people. Comments now left will not only be more encouraging thereby boosting your motivation, but also more useful since it is feedback that can and should be used to grow your platform. Maintaining a consistency while also improving upon the quality of the content you post will help you in getting traffic that is more targeted! It does not makes sense to write for people who have little or no interest in the subject matter! On the other hand, as most of the best blog sites have experienced for themselves already if people like what they see they will spread the word! Which leads us to...
Quality Referrals
As you get better at researching and presenting your views by concentrating on topics your visitors have a interest in your platform will go viral! Current followers will make recommendations to others with similar interests and encourage them to visit for themselves! Getting traffic by word of mouth advertising like this saves you both time and energy. In addition you know that any new people who show up at your site most likely already have an interest in what you write about. Now you have not only new followers but also the nucleus of a whole new viral campaign! With a continued effort on your part the chances are good you will become one of the best blog sites in your selected niche!
More blog traffic is not always the best way to develop into a good blogger due primarily to the 3 reasons we discussed above. The best blog sites are the ones that have been around for a while and have been able to develop and maintain their focus. This usually makes getting traffic for them less of a challenge due to their consistency and the loyal base they have developed! By nurturing a sense of community early on and maintaining a certain content consistency, visitors therefore come to know what to expect. This results in their loyalty as well as their glowing recommendations to others to come visit your site. In the end it would seem the sign of a good blogger is more about how long they've been around and their ability to develop a loyal following!

5 Great Tips To Starting A Successful Blog

There are literally millions of blogs set-up on the Internet, but only a fraction of these blogs are truly successful. What is the common theme among the successful blogs? It's their relentless focus on the needs and wants of their target readers. They truly understand their reader's and constantly deliver content that meets reader's expectations.
How can you do the same if you're just starting your blog? Here are five tips that will help you get started on the way to operating a successful blog.
1. Know your niche - We expect the reason you are starting a blog is because you have an interest in a specific niche. For example - you are not focusing only on "Chevy Corvettes" - but are focusing on "pre-1970 Chevy Corvettes." Make sure you tighten your focus as much as possible. The tighter your focus the better you can understand your niche. The better you understand your niche the better solutions you can provide your readers.
2. Know exactly who is your reader - when you first create your blog there is a danger expecting everyone - even in your chosen niche - is a potential reader. That likely is not the case, and if it is you are probably focusing too broadly. You want to be able to clearly identify your readers. So much so that when creating content for your blog you should have a picture of your reader in your mind. Is your reader young or old? Male or female? Married or single? High school or university educated?
3. Provide your readers with a journey - Your relationship with your readers is not open-ended. It should follow a specific journey with clear stopping-points along the way. Of course not all of your readers will be at the same location on the journey - and that's OK. No matter where they are they will see that the content you develop will help them reach their goal. For example, the journey might be to acquire, restore, show, and win a "Pre-1970 Chevy Corvette" competition within 18 months. Clear stopping points along the way might be "Still Looking", "I Just Bought It - Now What?", "Where Can If Find-Out How-To...", and "Off To The Show." Your readers will be able to identify with each stopping point along the journey - and no matter where they are on the journey will find relevant content on your blog.
4. Continually deliver helpful content to your readers - Once you've built the foundation you need to build the "house". In the case of the blog that means providing your readers with layer upon layer of great, relevant content. The content can be in the form of blog posts, videos, podcasts, e-books, or other formats. The point is to make sure your content lines-up with the journey on which you are taking your readers.
5. Know your reader's needs and wants - With an idea in mind of your exact reader you can develop an outline of your reader's needs and wants. What are needs? Peace-of-mind, safety, security, approval, and other "ego-based" needs. What are wants? Learning where to buy "pre-1970 Chevy Corvettes", learning how-to restore these cars, knowing where to get parts, finding-out how-to show the cars competitively. You should have a clear understanding of your reader's needs and the wants that will support these needs.

3 Factors Behind Blog Success or Failure

As strange as it seems it appears that the same 3 factors that influence your blog success also contribute to your failure as well! There are certain requirements that must be met in the development and maintenance of a blogging platform in order for it to become popular. The fact is that the most popular blogs have all maintain their commitment towards fulfilling these requirements but not everybody is up to the challenge! It is these 'challenges' that cause many to quit however to develop into a good blogger, one who has a popular site, it is more a matter of patience and resolve, and not talent!
Here are the 3 common factors that can either be the keys to success for your blogging platform or the obstacles that lead to your failure!
Interesting Content
Any good blogger recognizes the importance of maintaining a certain level of quality on their site for their readers. After all the blogging platform is there for the entertainment of the people who visit it otherwise the site would failure to exist! Over time both the site administration and those who frequent the blog come to know and better understand one another making content creation a little easier. What is offered readers is normally a mixture of insight, teaching, humor and even industry updating.
Exposure
Marketing always plays a role in the development of the most popular blogs and is the best way to accelerate its popularity. Gaining and maintaining exposure is something the site administrator should always take measures in doing to keep fresh traffic flowing to the platform itself. Make no mistake this will be an ongoing process and can be achieved through various marketing strategies. Simply choose a few that work best with your skill set, budget and time availability! For those that are challenged by the time required or simply a lack of motivation and/or resolve this will be an obstacle they will need to overcome!
Consistency
Marketing, content creation and even interacting with visitors by responding to comments left needs to be done consistently. Especially in the early developmental stages this consistency is important to both attract and retain traffic to your blogging platform. Consider it much like rolling something uphill in terms of once you stop, whatever it is you are rolling to the top will simply roll back down. Most popular blogs realize that their readers need to know what to expect. If your are not consistent with your efforts they will go elsewhere thereby you will be wasting your previous efforts!
Ironically your blog success is dependent upon the same 3 factors that can also lead to your failure as the discussion above reveals. Starting your own blogging platform is normally easy enough but to eventually become one of the most popular blogs in your niche takes time, effort and consistency! It is important to note however that in order to develop into a good blogger it requires more discipline than it does talent. This is to simply say anybody can have a successful blogging platform as long as they have the willingness to be patient and invest their efforts consistently! Difficulty or talent level however should NOT be considered obstacles!

7 Blog Posting Tips To Maximize Your Blogging Efforts

Whilst we all apply different techniques when posting articles on a blog, here are a few SEO friendly blog posting tips you should bear in mind if you want to increase your exposure.
1. Target a different longtail keyword phrase for each article you post on your blog. This will tell the search engines exactly what your blog article is about.
What you need to do is compile a list of longtail keyword phrases that you will use in your future blog posts. Google Adwords offers a free tool that will bring up the most commonly searched phrases related to the niche your blog is in.
2. In the title place just your keyword phrase. Use your keywords as the title rather than your whole article title.
Your keywords will appear in the blog url. As the search engine robots spider your blog they will immediately know what that article is about and this can help you rank higher on the search engines for that particular phrase.
3. Pay attention to your first paragraph. Put your keywords as close to the front of the first sentence as possible. Now bold the phrase to give additional emphasis.
4. Make good use of the body. This is a good place to link to a couple of additional sources.
Here you could add a link to an affiliate product or program that you are marketing. You can also link to helpful resources that are not affiliate links and that you don't benefit from personally. Search engines like it when you do this.
5. Don't forget the closing paragraph. Briefly summarise your article and add the exact same keyword phrase you used in the title and first paragraph. Again bold it for additional emphasis.
6. All in One SEO. This is a great SEO plug-in that you are well advised to install.
On every blog post that you make you can list the title, description, and keywords using the all in one SEO plug in. You can then submit this for the search engines to find.
7. Make use of the social directories. Unless you have a high-traffic blog search engines will not come to it on a regular basis.
If you make use of a submission service for your blog posts that is a good way to get your blog spidered quickly. Only Wire is a good one to get your blog posts submitted to over 40 online directories.
This is very easy to do. You just need the title of your blog post, the keywords, description and the url of the actual blog post. You paste these in, hit submit, and the information goes out to the various social directories.
You will increase the exposure your blog receives by implementing these blog posting tips. In time you will also generate more traffic to your blog.
